Class of 2010 reporting for duty.

My name is Angela Santana, and I'm a Fall 06 incoming freshman. I hope to double-major in Eng/CommArts and Theology, and I'm SMUSHS!

How hard is it to commute? Looks like my parents won't give in and let me live on-campus for at least my first year. Even with the Honors dollar$.

CONGRATS on your acceptance! My name is Ruth and I am an EA (Eng-Comm Arts) Major too! It should be fairly easy to be a commuter student, as long as 1) you're not opposed to paying gas to drive, 2) like the bus. I've lived on campus this first year because I come from Houston, but if you can stay at home, that's cool too. The dorm situation is that Freshman can only live in FYE (First-Year Experience) dorms - there's three: 2 co-ed (that just means the building has boys and girls but on seperate wings/floors) and 1 that is just for girls. It's fun being able to live on campus in a dorm with people who are your age, but it's also fun not having to eat food from the cafe all the time and a bathroom that's mostly your own. The only disadvantage I could see to living off campus would be that unless your arrange your classes so that they're all blocked together, you will have odd hours you'll have to kill.
PS. Sorry this seems all thrown in there, I'm kinda in a rush. See you next fall!

Living at home shouldn't be much of a problem because of your major. I'm an engineering major and lived at home my first year, too. It was quite a hassle because for a lot of our work we need equipment that is only available in the labs at school. Y'all don't have that need, so it should be fine.

Congrats on getting into the honors program! I'm the student representative for the selection committee and even though I was unable to go to any of the interviews, I remember seeing your application :)

Take care and welcome to StMU!
